How do I clean my plancha?

We strongly recommend cleaning your plancha after each use. Proper maintenance of your plancha will ensure it lasts for many years.
  • Make sure your plancha is turned off but remains warm enough without being too hot.
  • Pour lukewarm water over the surface, and use a wooden spatula or a utensil designed for this purpose. Remove the largest pieces of food residue and push them into the grease-collection tray. Avoid using water that is too cold, as this can cause the plancha’s enamel to crack.
  • Once you’ve completed this initial cleaning, you can use our special griddle cleaner or silver polish to remove any remaining grease.
  • Scrub with a non-abrasive sponge or cloth.
  • Rinse the surface of your plancha with water.
  • Your griddle is clean.

How does my griddle’s thermostat work?

When you switch on your electric plancha, you choose a power level from 1 to 5.

The role of the thermostat is to maintain the plancha at the right temperature.

For example, if you have selected power 4, the plancha will heat up to the corresponding temperature. At this point, the thermostat switches off the resistance and switches it on again when the temperature starts to drop, and so on to maintain the required temperature.

How do I clean my ash catcher?

How do I clean the combustion basket?

After removing and disposing of the ashes, use a soft cloth with a non-abrasive detergent such as washing-up liquid to clean the basket. Then dry the basket with a dry cloth.

Cleaning frequency

To ensure your product lasts as long as possible, we recommend cleaning it after each use.

Important note

The most important thing is to clean any grease that may have fallen into the basket during use.

Grease is abrasive and can rust your barbecue prematurely.

How do I use the rapid ignition system?

The quick-lighting system is a chimney built into the barbecue that enables embers to be made in around 10 minutes by heating from underneath the barbecue.
Here’s how to use the system:

1/ Put charcoal in the tank of your barbecue

2/ Remove the ash drawer or ash catcher (depending on model). Light two firelighters and place them in the drawer or firelighter holder provided.

3/ Replace the ash drawer or ash catcher under the barbecue bowl.

4/ Wait about ten minutes and you’ll have embers.

Why is there a hole in the side stove burner? Is this normal?

  • When mounting the side stove on a gas barbecue, you may notice a visible hole between the burner and the gas valve. This hole is necessary for the appliance to work properly, as the gas needs air to produce a flame. It’s the mixture of gas and air that gives the flames their blue color.

Which gases are compatible with my product? Butane or Propane?

  • All Cook’in Garden products are Butane and Propane compatible.

How do I clean the burners?

  • Please remove the cooking grid(s).
  • Remove the burner protectors and the burners. If your protectors are too damaged, you can recommend them on our website.
  • For effective degreasing, we recommend using our special grid degreaser or immersing the elements in hot, soapy water.
  • Next, clean the inside of the burners with compressed air to remove any dirt.
  • Replace the elements and you’re ready to light up your barbecue again.

The flames on my barbecue/plancha are yellow

  • The flames of a gas barbecue/plancha should be blue in normal operation. If the flames are yellow, there’s a problem with the regulator. Fortunately, this is easy to check and repair:
    • Turn off the burners.
    • Close the gas cylinder, then disconnect the regulator from the cylinder.
    • You can now reconnect the regulator to the gas cylinder.
    • Open the cylinder and check the regulator for gas leaks.
    • Then relight the burners and check the flame color.
  • If the problem persists, there must be a problem with the regulator.
  • If the regulator has been changed, please open a service request if your product meets the conditions.

Gas on the way

  • Check that piezoelectric igniters produce a spark
    • If there is a spark, the problem may lie with the gas cylinder. You need to double-check that your bottle is full and that the gas is flowing properly.
      • Remove the burner that won’t light and replace it with one that does.
      • If the “replacement” burner won’t light, the problem is the injector. It needs to be cleaned with compressed air to remove the impurities blocking the gas inlet hole.
      • If the “replacement” burner lights up, it’s the burner that needs to be cleaned with compressed air.

Gas doesn’t arrive

  • Check that the gas cylinder is sufficiently full
  • Check that the regulator is properly vented by pressing the green button or the button located under the connection (depending on the model).
